Short and Sweet

Anyone who reads my blog knows that I'm awfully wordy. Just don't take time to write concisely, you know?

That is going to change for about ten days. I'm having a little hand surgery this afternoon and will then have my right hand immobilized for ten days because this involves a skin graft. Of course I'm right handed. Since I'm hopelessly clumsy with my left hand, a lot of things are going to be different, or at least difficult temporarily.

Oh well, at least I'll have lots of time for reading and then composing short reviews. Keep your fingers crossed that the graft takes; thankfully I'm a fast healer. Oh, and when you want a giggle, just think of me typing with my left hand, brushing my teeth with my left hand, and a horde of other things with my left hand.

  1. Good luck! What a drag to have a procedure on the right hand! Well, by the time you are healed you will be an ambidexterous expert!

  2. Ouch! I hope things go well and you heal quickly!

  3. Well, I hope the procedure isn't painful. You'll probably get a drug that will give you a lovely nap. As you mentioned, it's the inconvenience of the next 10 days that will really hurt. Be sure to moan a lot. You'll get waited on more that way. lol I'll keep you in my thoughts.

  4. Barbara, five years ago I had surgery (also on my right hand) that necessitated me wearing a device that rendered my right hand useless for 3 long months. I became quite proficient at using the mouse left-handed because it just wasn't an option to give up trying, but typing?--it's amazing the synergy between two hands, even when you use only a couple of fingers of was just tooooo frustrating.

I hope all goes well for you and you enjoy your enforced downtime. :-)

  5. I'll cross legs, eyes, fingers and toes... as soon as I post this comment!

  6. I hope things went well, Barbara!

  7. Thank you for all the good wishes. I'm doing very well but would sure like to have my right hand back. I didn't have a skin graft after all so I hope I won't be immobilized for the whole 10 days.

Meanwhile Dave fell on the ice by our garage as we were leaving for the hospital. He didn't break any bones but wrecked his knee and couldn't bear weght on it until today. He's having an awful time and he's on pain meds. Some people will do anything to get out of washing dishes!! ;D

I wish I were ambidextrous like my aunt. She was a natural lefty back in the day when that wasn't allowed so they made her write righthanded. She grew up to be a bookkeeper who could do the books with either hand.

    1. Good wishes for a speedy recovery for both of you! I'm hopeless with my left hand, so you have my sympathy. Although if you typed that long comment with only your left hand, you are doing pretty well!
