I know my take on the book was different than many others' but I think this is the type of book in which your reaction to it is greatly determined by what's going on in your life. It makes you think, but also some of the characters he meets make you laugh. They may be absurd but you've met them before.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04179027379034179865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-68503274631233448402012-08-29T23:43:53.974-04:002012-08-29T23:43:53.974-04:00I really enjoyed getting to know Harold and Mauree...I really enjoyed getting to know Harold and Maureen, even though it was a disfunctional marriage. I suppose it will depend on your mood and expectations, but I'm still recommending it to anyone who wants a great character study.Tinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15164739473838041694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-87577543040594684612012-08-22T10:24:28.855-04:002012-08-22T10:24:28.855-04:00I enjoyed this book.

It was whilst I was having treatment for the breast cancer and was feeling a bit sensitive about it and the outcome. I also thought Harold seemed insensitive to his wife, so I was very interested to read what you thought of it. I see you didn't find it an easy book to read, but maybe it's one I could read a a while - if I see it in the library.Margaret @ BooksPleasehttp://www.booksplease.orgnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-19999106400246945432012-08-19T20:31:27.641-04:002012-08-19T20:31:27.641-04:00I started this yesterday and an 1/2 way through......I started this yesterday and an 1/2 way through...loving Harold's journey and learning about his life.(Diane) Bibliophile By the Seahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10519875632878992728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-17068481844243091502012-08-18T18:34:07.506-04:002012-08-18T18:34:07.506-04:00Isn't it amazing how being ill can affect our ...Isn't it amazing how being ill can affect our feelings about a book? There's about a dozen in my 2010 list that I read while recovering from the worst of heat stroke. I still feel uneasy when I see the titles - and I'm never sure if it was the book that makes me feel that way.Debbie Rodgershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15630059470408161434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-5408621048357779082012-08-18T16:44:04.626-04:002012-08-18T16:44:04.626-04:00Sounds very depressing to me!Sounds very depressing to me!rhapsodyinbookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07041412748239010264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4331783333799799045.post-15530965846405526842012-08-18T13:44:50.018-04:002012-08-18T13:44:50.018-04:00A lot of people have raved over this book so I'...A lot of people have raved over this book so I'm anxious to read it - I'm just not sure it's the right time for me. It seems rather introspective and I need more action right now.bermudaonionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726401178972099557noreply@blogger.com
